Army Body Fat Calculator — Single-Site Tape (Archive)
From June 2024 to July 6, 2026, the Army estimated body-fat percentage from a single circumference measurement at the abdomen. This single-site tape method replaced the older multi-site tape (neck + abdomen + hip), and was itself replaced by the Waist-to-Height Ratio standard on July 7, 2026.
This calculator is preserved for reference only. Soldiers appealing older ABCP enrollments, recruiters reviewing historical files, and soldiers who took an assessment during this window may still need to interpret a single-site tape result.

Reminder: this method was replaced by WHtR on July 7, 2026. Informational only — not an official ABCP determination.
Formulas cited verbatim from ALARACT 053/2024 and ALARACT 046/2023. Weight is in pounds; abdomen circumference is in inches. Verify against the original ALARACT message before relying on any output.
The formula
Male: %BF = -26.97 − 0.12 × weight + 1.99 × abdomen Female: %BF = -9.15 − 0.015 × weight + 1.27 × abdomen

Worked examples (independently checked)
- Male, 25 yrs, 180 lbs, 36 in abdomen → %BF = -26.97 − 0.12×180 + 1.99×36 = -26.97 − 21.6 + 71.64 = 23.07%
- Female, 25 yrs, 140 lbs, 32 in abdomen → %BF = -9.15 − 0.015×140 + 1.27×32 = -9.15 − 2.1 + 40.64 = 29.39%
Pass/fail was judged against the archived age-group maxima (male: 20% / 22% / 24% / 26%; female: 30% / 32% / 34% / 36% for the 17–20 / 21–27 / 28–39 / 40+ groups).
