Waist Target Calculator

Given your height, this calculator returns the maximum waist circumference that meets the Army’s current WHtR standard of 0.55 — simply your height multiplied by 0.55.

Useful for recruits planning ahead of MEPS or Basic Training, and for soldiers tracking their margin against the standard. The result is a pure arithmetic target: it does not predict the measurement an official assessment will produce — measurement technique matters.

Units

Informational estimate based on your inputs. Not an official ABCP determination. Refer to your unit ABCP counselor or recruiter for personal decisions. Waist targets are arithmetic goals, not health or medical advice. Your inputs never leave your browser.

Pure arithmetic — informational only. The 0.52 comfort margin gives you roughly a 5% buffer below the threshold so you are not aiming at the line.

The formula

max_waist_in    = height_in × 0.55
max_waist_cm    = height_cm × 0.55
buffer_waist_in = height_in × 0.52

Pure arithmetic — informational only. The 0.52 comfort margin gives you roughly a 5% buffer below the threshold so you are not aiming at the line.
